AWC Welcome day – 2023
How did your academic year begin? For us, it kicked off with the AWC Welcome Day, which featured six speakers and had 115 participants - isn’t that a good start?
The workshops covered a wide range of topics, from research collaboration and journal selection to literature search techniques and the use of artificial intelligence tools in scientific work. The speakers shared their success stories, offered guidance, and even discussed the lessons they learnt from their failures, which was particularly valuable.
We would like to thank the speakers: Evgeny Sedashov, Konstantin Nefedov, Idalia Fedotova, Daria Maltseva, Vladimir Shchur, Nazir Jogezai for contributing their knowledge.
Some insights that the participants shared:
-
“I like the idea of "reading as a writer." The task prepared by the speaker was good, it inspired a feeling of competition in me.”
-
“The contents are interesting and clear, and the speaker is very friendly. For me, it was useful to see another perspective. And I also appreciate the use of references in the slides.”
-
“The workshop introduced many useful tools and tips that I can use in my work: new sources for the search of literature; and algorithm of search.”
-
“I appreciated advice on how to write cover letters and abstracts. Practical tasks were elucidating.”
-
“The personal experience of the speaker and the ideas about collaboration networks were especially valuable.”
-
“I liked it that the speaker gave examples from real articles; the template for writing an abstract was very useful.”
