“Own” your research

This week the participants of the workshop "Where is the Author in This Text?" plunged themselves into the analysis of the author’s voice in research articles from different disciplines.

“Own” your research

We generally think that research writing can only be very neutral and objective. But in fact, there are many ways authors bring themselves into their texts. Christine Tardy shared some tools, both linguistic and rhetorical, for controlling how readers might perceive you as the author.

The participants of the seminar had a lot to say about their impressions:

  • “For me, it's a new level in reflecting about my writing.”

  • “The seminar was lively, to the point, balanced.”

  • “The session was very exciting, creative, informative, and interactive.”

We are so lucky to have had one of the world's most famous experts in academic writing. This semester Christine is holding three seminars at our Center. Hurry up, you can still register for the third one! The recordings of the past two workshops are available on our channel.
