From reviewers about reviews
On January 25 the HSE AWC hosted its first event in 2022 – the panel discussion "From reviewers, to reviewers, about reviews."
The colleagues from different HSE departments: Maria Yudkevich, Elena Shakina, Sergey Popov, Petr Parshakov, Dmitry Veselov, Alexander Tarasov, and Alexey Zakharov shared their unique experience of writing and reviewing research articles for international journals. As both authors and reviewers, the colleagues talked about their stories of success and failure and gave valuable advice to novice writers.
The main takeaway is not to be afraid of rejections. Even the most famous and experienced authors get rejected and that happens more frequently than novices realize.
Lively discussion, relevant questions and friendly atmosphere, that is what attracted the participants:
- “Relaxed and very sincere discussion, а high level of the speakers' involvement, a quick reaction to the participants' questions, both in the chat and orally, a well-organized structure, and a good atmosphere created by the moderator. I also liked the opportunity for the listeners to submit their questions in advance, which were well-integrated into the event. And one more thing - I enjoyed those real- life cases.”
- “Very interesting and relevant personal experience of the speakers. Special thanks for funny stories and personal "failures," it is important to know that this is normal and may happen to everybody. The discussion was lively and exciting, a great format!”
We would like to thank the speakers and participants!
