How to meet requirements for an international publication

This semester, the AWC presented a new course led by an international specialist in academic writing.

The course "Preparing a Manuscript for Publication" was developed and taught by Leslie Dupont, a writing coach in the College of Nursing at the University of Arizona and a writing instructor with more than 30 years of experience. 

The course program focused on certain aspects of the international publication process that are less obvious to non-English-speaking researchers. Participants discussed how to find a suitable journal, fit your manuscript to its scope, and meet reviewers’ expectations. They drafted an email to an editor and practiced applying self-editing strategies demonstrated by the instructor to review and edit their own texts. Each participant was afforded an opportunity to meet with Dr. Dupont for an individual consultation to receive feedback on their own text or ask questions about the intricacies of the publication process. 

Apart from the useful content and new skills, many colleagues appreciated a chance to exchange ideas and communicate with peers:

This course closed the season at the AWC, but the program we have prepared for spring 2024 will be just as exciting. Join us in 2024!
