Public speaking: No need to fake it if you know how to make it

Public speaking is a skill everyone needs and few people seem to feel confident about. The Academic Writing Center offers HSE faculty and researchers a chance to master it.

Last Saturday the participants of the intensive “Public Speaking Crash Course” had every opportunity to practice their speaking skills in an encouraging environment. The course trainer Zhenya Bakin provided the group with an effective presentation structure and a list of useful vocabulary. The participants analyzed several examples of strong and weak speeches, did a number of scaffolded activities to prepare their own presentations, and recorded speeches to receive feedback from the colleagues and the trainer. 

There is no doubt that the day was well spent:
