AWC Welcome day – 2022

The traditional beginning of an academic year, the AWC Welcome Day, gathered 120 participants. We can proudly say that it was in fact a mini-conference!

AWC Welcome day – 2022

What lessons can we learn from negative experiences? This year our speakers – Bruno Bauwens, Marharyta Fabrykant, Dirk Meissner, Alexander Tarasov, Pete Dick, and Anastasia Artemova – answered this question. We thank them for their openness and willingness to share their ideas.

If you’ve missed the workshops but would also like to learn:

  • how not to make the editor mad

  • what reviewers primarily look at

  • what typical language problems the Center consultant notices

  • what you should not do in mathematical proofs

  • what to pay attention to in an article from humanities

  • how to go back in time and rewrite your first published article

– stay tuned to updates on our YouTube channel.

Here’s what participants think:

  • “I appreciate that the workshop was run in a form of conversation, when the border between teacher and students was blurring.”
  • “I enjoyed how positive energy was coming from the speaker. I'm going through rewriting my article (though it's in Russian), and this workshop was really helpful.”
  • “It's nice to be involved in the discussion about academic writing. Thanks a lot!”
  • “It was interesting to learn how the work of the editor is carried out. Lots of humor.”

Don’t miss your chance and register for the courses, workshops, and consultations. See you at the AWC!
