Workshop at SSLW 2019 (Tempe, Arizona)

It was a great honor to present at the biggest world symposium in the field of second language writing. The AWC director ran a workshop “Writing for publication purposes: Challenges of ESL/EFL writers,” which gathered 15 participants from different cultures: the USA, Canada, Mexico, Columbia, China, South Korea, and Chile.

That was a space for experience sharing, networking, posing questions and seeking answers. Interactive tasks and discussions helped the participants to better understand what kind of ERPP course can be effective in assisting researchers to publish in international peer-reviewed journals.

Participants discussed challenges of EFL writers and ways to help them overcome those challenges. Svetlana Suchkova presented the results of the course she designed and implemented. Judging by the participants’ feedback, the workshop was very helpful.

“I would like to thank the participants of the course Writing a Draft for Publication (2018) who responded to the delayed feedback survey. It helped me share your voices with international colleagues,” — Svetlana Suchkova.
