Course "Organizing Your Writing Process"
This four-session course will support writers as they build their knowledge and skills of the publication process, academic article genres, and accompanying documents. The course syllabus includes the requirements to an Introduction and how it connects to the other parts of an IMRaD, including Title and Abstract. The course will also include significant peer work and feedback from the instructor as participants write and revise. Upon completion, participants should also have a polished draft of an academic article.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
-
select an appropriate journal and target it
-
articulate what’s at stake and what contribution their article makes
-
use and integrate sources in audience-appropriate ways
-
revise in response to feedback
-
compose a successful introduction and abstract to a scholarly article.
NB: To join the course, writers in the sciences and social sciences must have completed data collection and have an outline or very rough draft of their article. Humanists must have completed enough scholarship to clearly articulate the original contribution of their research and have an outline or very rough draft.
The course is offered on a competitive basis. Please fill out an online registration form and write a motivation letter in English (about 300 words).
