Tired of AI? Let’s talk EI!

In the time of artificial intelligence’s prevalence, has the value of other intelligences diminished? Of course not. This week we decided to focus on emotional intelligence.

Tired of AI? Let’s talk EI!

On April 7, the AWC long-time trainer and partner Ekaterina Redkina brought her expertise as a psychologist to the workshop “Emotional intelligence as means to successful communication in the modern world.” Ekaterina highlighted the growing awareness of EI significance in professional contexts with the focus on teacher-student relationships. Workshop participants analyzed the teacher’s use of EI in real-life cases and discussed how empathy and emotional awareness can enhance their teaching experiences.

It looks like Ekaterina’s approach to the topic was exactly what the audience needed:

  • “The workshop was a perfect combination of theory and practice leading to a theory-informed discussion of real-life cases from teaching practice. I will definitely be able to apply the tips and recommendations in my own teaching. The speaker was really engaging from the beginning. Ekaterina showed the importance of the link between emotions and cognition with some really effective examples and from that moment on I was ‘hooked’.”
  • “Engaging atmosphere, kind and supportive, very practical knowledge (real schemes which can be applied to the situations in the classroom)”
  • “The examples with pupils or students were definitely useful. It was very interesting to discuss delicate situations and our reactions to them”

On April 24-25 we are running the 2nd international conference “Celebrate Writing with Us,” so we are taking a break from workshops. We’ll see you in May for the final workshop of this semester on effective use of paraphrasing in academic writing.
