Hit the journal - right on target
Choosing a journal for publication is becoming an increasingly daunting task - what with growing search opportunities, on the one hand, and recent limitations for Russian scholars, on the other. We try to help our colleagues by keeping this issue in focus and offering multiple perspectives.
Although the course “Targeting your Writing to the Journal Requirements: Preparatory Stage” by Varvara Sosedova has been on the AWC program for a few years, this semester it was brought up to date with the current trends. Apart from its focus on journals’ scopes, metrics, and other relevant characteristics, the course offered its participants ample practice with the most effective AI tools that help choose a journal and make a reference list. The highlight of the course is corpus analysis. The participants compile their own corpus of articles and work with them to identify distinctive linguistic features of articles in their field. This skill enables them to adapt their texts to the most rigorous discipline standards and target journals of their choice with precision.
